The Lynchburg Area Region of the Virginia Watercolor Society is pleased to announce that it is hosting the VWS 35th Annual Show and Exhibition at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lynchburg, Virginia. The Academy of Fine Arts Gallery is located at 600 Main Street in Lynchburg.
This year’s show attracted over 500 paintings by over 200 top watermedia artists in Virginia. Approximately 90 paintings have been juried into the Show by nationally recognized, award winning artist, Nicholas Simmons (www.nicholassimmons.com)
This show is free and open to the public, with an opening reception for First Fridays, on May 3, 2014 at 5 p.m. Continued Gallery Hours are Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm and Saturdays by appointment.
The VWS was founded in 1979 by Roanoke artists John Will Creasy and Ernest Johnson to foster the interest and participation of watercolor artists in Virginia. Today the 400 member society provides programs, exhibitions, social activities and grants to further appreciation and importance of watermedia art in the state.
The annual VWS exhibition is held in a different part of the state each year and attracts hundreds of visitors.
