Central Virginia Watercolor Guild

Combining Camaraderie with Creativity


In 1991, a handful of local watercolor artists under the leadership of Edith Arbaugh and Marion Hansen formed this organization for water-media painters. The term “water media” as used here embraces traditional transparent watercolor as well as gouache, acrylic, and other water based media. Today the guild has a membership of over one hundred artists. The CVWG goals are:

  • to foster the advancement of all forms of water-media painting
  • to promote the highest levels of excellence in the use of these media
  • to inform and educate the general public about the use of water-media in painting
  • to encourage and promote the study of these varied media
  • to provide an exchange of information about activities of artists working with these tools.

The CVWG is a nonprofit educational organization formed under Internal Revenue Code #501(c)(3).

Meetings are held at the Church of Our Savior, 1165 Rio Road E., Charlottesville, on the fourth Monday of the month.coos-mapLook for the fellowship hall behind the stone church, off Huntington Road, where there is plenty of parking.

  • October 22,   “What I learned as a Self-Taught Artist” with Linda Bethke
  • November 26,   Annual Luncheon and Swearing in of new Officers, Noon-2:00pm
  • December:   No meeting

Membership Information
